Topic: Neurodiversity, discrimination, reasonable accommodation and disproportionate burden



This seminar addressed neurodiversity and discrimination in employment equality law. It considered relevant legislation and caselaw from Ireland, EU and other jurisdictions on issues such as the definition of disability, provision of reasonable accommodation and the interaction with disproportionate burden in reasonable accommodation. It also considered how case law from abroad could be dealt with under the Irish and EU law, including examples of good employment practices in the context of neurodiversity from other jurisdictions.

At the end of the presentation, participants;

* Understood the key legislative provisions relating to neurodiversity and discrimination in Ireland and the EU.

* Had knowledge of international case law of significance.

* Were able to consider how relevant international resources can devise good practice for employees and employers working with neurodiverse employees.
