Peter Ward SC

Peter Ward was called to the Bar in 1985 and has been a Senior Counsel since 2009, specialising in Employment Law and Public Law. He is a former Research Scholar in UCD and Lecturer in Law in UCC. He is a former director and chairperson of Flac (Free Legal Advice Centres). He was chairperson and author of the ‘Report to the Minister for Education and Skills of the Expert Group on Fixed-Term and Part-Time Employment in Primary and Second Level Education in Ireland’ (September 2014) and is the adjudicator of Contract of Indefinite Duration appeals in the education sector. He was appointed by the Tanaiste and Minister for Defence to carry out the inquiry which resulted in his ‘Report on the Management of Members of the Defence Forces Charged with, or Convicted of, Serious Criminal Offences’ (October 2024).
