Brendan Kirwan SC

Brendan Kirwan SC was called to the Bar in 2003 and to the Inner Bar in 2019. He was admitted to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 2019.

His practice is civil law based and covers a range of areas, with a particular emphasis on employment law.

Brendan has lectured on the topic of wrongful dismissal and injunctions on the King’s Inns Diploma in Applied Employment Law since its inception. He is a regular contributor of articles to legal journals and is the author of Injunctions: Law and Practice, with a fourth edition of the book due to be published in 2026. He is also the joint author (with Tom Mallon BL) of the chapter on Injunctions in Employment Law (2nd ed.)

Brendan was a member of the Council of the Bar of Ireland from 2021-2024 and served as Chair of its Education and Training Committee from 2022-2023. He was elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Employment Bar Association in July 2020, was elected as Chair of the EBA in July 2023 and returned as Chair in July 2024. His term of office as Chair having concluded in July 2025, he remains ex officio on the Executive Committee for this legal year.
